Tom CasariThank you to Tom Casari, Northville Township's Department of Public Services Director, who retired today after nine years of serving Northville Township and 42 years of public service.

Casari oversaw Water & Sewer, Building, Engineering, Facilities, Planning and Solid Waste Collection for the Township.

If GFL missed picking up a resident’s trash for two weeks in a row, he was the caring ear at the end of the phone solving the issue.

“I’ve always recognized that I am to deliver the best service I can,” Casari said.

Casari, who holds a master’s of science degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University, has been actively training his successor, Bob Belair, who is the Township’s Deputy Director of Public Services.

Casari and Belair previously worked together in Canton Township.

“I learned almost everything I know from Tom after working with him for 15 years,” said Belair, who joined Northville Township in 2019 after spending eight years as Public Works Manager for Canton.

Casari, who already has a tee time for his first day of retirement, knowns he’s leaving the residents in good hands.

“Bob has the personality, he’s service oriented and he’s hardworking. He is a perfect fit,” Casari said.
