Johnson CreekJohnson Creek remains protected from Arbor Hills Landfill dumping its leachate and compost wastewater into Wayne County’s only cold water trout stream. We recently received a copy of a letter to landfill owner Advanced Disposal Services (ADS) from Environment Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) advising ADS that Johnson Creek is not a feasible option for the discharge of its waste and it needs to find alternative discharge sources. It also informed ADS to find alternatives for discharges from its PFAS-contaminated stormwater ponds. EGLE gave them a Nov. 10 deadline to find alternatives to using Johnson Creek. Our continued communication with EGLE has paid off. We appreciate EGLE protecting Johnson Creek.
