Ban On Open Burning
Posted on 07/09/2018
Due to the extremely dry conditions plaguing southeastern Michigan, the Northville Township Fire Department is issuing an immediate ban on all open burning in Northville Township. As of this afternoon, the Fire Danger level in our area has reached the Very High rating. Very High is the second highest fire danger level as rated by the DNR and the United States Forest Service. With limited rain forecasted for the next 7-10 days this rating is expected to continue or increase. During these conditions fires may start easily, spread quickly and burn intensely making them difficult to control and extinguish.

This temporary ban is in accordance with the Open Burning Guidelines of the Charter Township of Northville, the International Fire Code and MCL 29.7(a) of the Michigan Fire Prevention Code. Remember, that you are responsible for any fire that you start. Northville Township will continue to monitor the conditions and remove the ban when appropriate.
