Posted on 01/17/2019
NORTHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich., January 17, 2019 – At the January Board of Trustees meeting this evening, Sue Hillebrand, the Northville Township Clerk, announced her retirement after 26 years with Township. This leaves a vacancy for the Township Clerk position.

Township Clerk Sue Hillebrand recommended Marjorie Banner (current Township Treasurer) as her successor to complete the remainder of the term (expiring in 2020) effective February 15, 2019. The motion was presented by Supervisor Nix and approved by the Board.

Marjorie Banner has been a Northville resident for over 35 years. She was originally appointed Trustee in March 2001 to replace Bill Pomeroy and was a Trustee until November 2012, when she was elected Township Treasurer. In addition to serving on the Board of Trustees, she has been a representative on the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and Brownfield Redevelopment Association (BRA), has served on the Historic District Commission (HDC), the Parks and Recreation Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals.

Marjorie Banner’s appointment to Township Clerk leaves a vacancy for the Township Treasurer position. Township Supervisor Bob Nix made a motion for Trustee Fred Shadko to fill the role of Township Treasurer for the remainder of the term (expiring in 2020), effective February 15, 2019 and it was also approved by the Board.

Fred Shadko has been a Northville resident for over 22 years and has been a Trustee since November of 2012. In addition to serving on the Board of Trustees, Shadko has been on the Historic District Commission since 2011 and is currently also serving on the Planning Commission. He has served on the EDC and BRA in the past and is also the current SEMCOG alternate. He has had perfect attendance at all Board of Trustees meeting since being elected.

This chain of events leaves spot open for a Trustee appointment. Supervisor Nix recommended Scott Frush be appointed for the remainder of the term (expiring in 2020), effective February 15, 2019. It was motioned and approved by the Board. Frush has been a resident of Northville for the past 7 years. He has served on the Friends of the Northville District Library and on the Northville Education Foundation and is currently serving on the Economic Development Corporation.

The next Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 21 at 7pm. Agendas and minutes are available on the Township’s website at twp.northville.mi.us.
