Fire Department Overview

The Northville Township Fire Department continues to strive toward professional development and is committed to providing the best level of public service possible.  Over the last year the fire department certified all its non-probationary firefighters in fire pump operations, water and ice rescue operations, as well as providing valuable training in emergency response to electrical emergencies.  After receiving extensive training in extrication techniques, those used for rescuing victims of automobile accidents, six firefighters participated in a regional extrication competition. The fire department instituted a training program to emphasize basic firefighting practices and as a result has significantly increased its ability to provide quick and professional fire response and attack.  Due to an increase in population, run volume, and overall township growth, the fire department is committed to elevating its level of service in all areas of emergency response.

There are currently eighteen fulltime career firefighters assigned to a three platoon system. The platoon system which functions on a three day rotating schedule, begins the workday at 8:00 AM and ends the next day at 8:00 AM.  All firefighters are certified by the State of Michigan in firefighting and are licensed by the State of Michigan to provide basic emergency medical services.

It is the mission of the Northville Township Fire Department to provide the highest level of emergency, fire prevention and public education services possible. This mission is aggressively pursued through training, education, and performance review
